19 Week Pregnancy Update

I feel like this pregnancy is flyiiiing by! Its so different than the first one in that some days I forget that I am pregnant because I am so busy playing and taking care of Rose. With the first pregnancy, I thought about the baby I was carrying all day and all night! I had a hard time sleeping but sleep is not a problem (yet!) with this pregnancy. I am exhausted by the end of the day and usually sleep like a rock. The nausea ended around week 13...thank goodness! It was hard taking care of a baby all day when all I wanted to do was curl up on the sofa and sleep. But we got through it! I feel great these days and have enough energy to manage. An afternoon nap is awesome, if I can manage to fit it in. I either cook dinner or nap during Rose's afternoon naptime...so you can imagine how many home-cooked meals we have these days! Maybe 1 or 2 a week. That's so sad...gotta get better about that! The Papa John's people know us, our order, and that we like them to call when they are outside vs. ringing the doorbell because the bell wakes Rose up. Seriously, they have that all in their computer and when we call they say, Hello Mr. Lyon and they rattle off all our our info! Its funny. I'm sure this baby will loooove pizza since he/she eats it several times a week :) Speaking of him or her...we are finding out the sex on Wednesday! I have absolutely no idea what this baby is so its going to be really exciting to find out! Check back Wednesday for the surprise!

Waiting

Have I mentioned how much Rose loves her Mama? She would be happy to sit on my lap and play all day.
But sometimes, I've got things I've gotta do! Rose doesn't like when I leave her in the den. But she usually waits pateintly for me to return.
Waiting is exhasuting!

A Hunting We Will Go

A Hunting We Will Go

Last sunday, Rose and I took a little trip up to the Danner Tract to see where her Daddy spends so many weekends! We had fun riding around on the golf cart and we even saw some turkeys, ducks, and deer! It was sunny and cold and Rose loved every minute of it. She especially enjoyed helping Daddy drive.

On the way up to the camp, we stopped in Stockton to eat at the Stagecoach Cafe. If you have never been there, its where all the nice country folk eat after church on Sunday. They have a Southern style buffet that was delish! Its just as country as you can get but we loved it. Rose devoured everything we gave her: ham, fried chicken, green beans (her favorite), creamed corn, carrot salad, rolls, etc... She also flirted big time with the people sitting around us. One man was so smitten with Rose that he decided to come to our table and kiss her! Not once, but more than once! Rose was terrified and started batting and swating at him. She finally resorted to shoving shredded carrot salad up his nose! Clark and I were in shock while it was happening but after the man finally left our table, we started laughing hysterically. Which in turn made Rose wail. Clark and I had to stop laughing to calm Rose down but we seriously couldn't look at each other for the rest of the meal beacuse every time we made eye contact, we would start laughing uncontrollably. It was great!

Growing Up

I just wanted to document several milestones Rose accomplished this weekend.

1. Rose is pulling up everywhere! She can move from one object to another. For example, she will start at her activity table, move one hand to the sofa, and then move the other so she is standing at the sofa.

2. She waved bye bye without being prompted for the first time tonight. We went to dinner with cousins and my parents and when the cousins started walking to their car, Rose started waving at them!

3. After watching Grammy stack blocks, Rose attempted to stack her own! It was too cute.

4. This isn't really a milestone, but Rose has gotten very possessive of her Mommy in the past few days. She cries when I leave the room and reaches out for me when she is in someone else's arms. I know its a good thing that she prefers her Mommy and Daddy but I hate to see her sad when I have to leave.

I'll try to post some new pictures soon!

Standing

Today I went in to check on Rose while she was trying to take her nap and found her standing in the crib! That was the first time she pulled up to standing on her own and she was scared to death. Her poor little hands were sweaty because she was gripping the rail so hard. She was sooo happy to see me and busrt into a huge smile when I rescued her. Can't wait to see if she will do it again after her nap!

Rose vs. Santa

Rose and I went to the Santa Breakfast and Christmas Jubilee. It was such a cute event and I think Rose and her friends will get so much more out of it when they are a little older. We had lots of fun...until time to meet the big guy.
Rose took one look at that big white beard, stuck her little lip out, and started screaming. I was laughing so hard that all of the pictures were blurry!

She's not a fan.
She was fine as soon as I rescued her and was a trooper while we all attempted to shop with our huge strollers. For those of you who haven't been...its super crowded and not a place where you take a stroller if you are serious about getting some shopping done. Rose was asleep as soon as her little head hit the carseat for the ride home.

Explanation

Sorry to those of you who checked the blog in the past few days and got the message that we went private! I have a friend who had a really creepy thing happen because of her blog and I got a little freaked out and decided that having my daughter's pictures and life's details on the web wasn't worth it to me. Since I didn't want to delete the blog and lose everything I've written during the last year, I just decided to make it private...but I didn't invite anyone to read! Again, please don't feel like I just didn't invite you... I didn't invite anyone. I still haven't decided what to do but I just wanted to explain why I went private. I'm going back to private in a few days but I wanted to explain my decision because I had lots of people calling and emailing asking where we went! Thanks for being interested in us :) I might decide to continue the blog and invite people to read, or I might give it up all together. I'm not that into it anymore! Maybe its this pregnancy and having an almost 10 month old that's making me feel like the blog is more of a hassle than a joy. But I promise to look back at my list of requests and invite those who care about us if I decide to continue!

Halloween

We had a blast this year during Rose's first Halloween. Early in the week, we visited Clark's grandparents so they could see Rose in her strawberry suit. They were amazed at her new crawling skills and loved watching her play. Rose was a big flirt that day.
Rose eventually discovered her first candy bowl. She must take after her Mama because she went straight for the good stuff...chocolate.After chewing on a wrapped tootsie roll for a while, I finally caved and let her try the real thing. It was a sticky mess but well worth it! On the real Halloween, we went to the Llanfair neighborhood party at the park. It was lots of fun and the kiddos were so cute in their costumes. Rose and Jay rode in the wagon.

After the party, we went to AnnLee's house where she had a little get together before trick or treating. By that time, Rose was pooped and we had to take her home. She was fast asleep in the car by 6:30! Hopefully we will be able to trick or treat next year. She will love it :)

9 Months

Rose turned 9 months on the 12th. This has been such a fun month and I feel like Rose has learned so much!
She loves table food and is quickly getting tired of baby food. She has been eating toast, cheese toast, waffles, mandarin oranges, strawberries, grapes, peaches, mango, banana, pear, peaches, peas, green beans, steamed squash and carrots, vienna sausage, cheese, cheerios, puffs, yogurt, and she even tried lasagna (which she looooved!)
I bought her a little play set of food that came in a mini shopping basket and that is by far her favorite toy right now. It keeps her occupied for what seems like hours on end!

Rose crawls a little bit. She scoots a lot and gets around her little play area pretty well. She's starting to show interest in pulling up and can pull up on her knees easily. She really likes her activity table toys that allow her to pull up. A few weeks ago she figured out how to push herself up to a sitting position when on her tummy.
Rose is napping 1-2 times a day. She usually takes a decent morning or mid-day nap (1-2 hours), and sometimes takes an afternoon nap.
She has finally mastered sleeping through the night!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!! Around her 8 month birthday, Rose started sleeping 7-7. It was amazing! Now she goes to bed around 6:30 and will sleep until 7:00 or 7:30. I can't tell you what a full night's sleep does for this pregnant mama!
Rose still loves bathtime and she now bathes in the big girl bathtub. She creates a wave pool with all the splashing she does and she loves pulling the drain out!
Rose imitates me when I shake my head "no" and when I stick out my tongue. Its so much fun to see her face when she realizes she is copying me and I get so excited! Oh, she also learned how to click her tongue and she'll copy me when I do that too.
(She doesn't hold her own bottle...she was just practicing one day and I thought it was a cute pic)

She loves the mobile in her bed and she's learned to turn it on by herself. When I get her from a nap, she is usually sitting up in the crib, with her paci, watching her mobile or playing with her toys. Its really cute how she entertains herself when she wakes up. Sometimes she pulls it down into her crib so I might have to take it away :(

Rose has 4 teeth now. She just got the top middle teeth this week.

Ok, I think I'll spare you the rest of the details! I just wanted to write down all the new things Rose is doing at this very fun age!
Rose, Mommy and Daddy love you more than anything in the world and we think you are the most special thing on earth. We can't wait to see you grow and change during the rest of your first year!!

Vintage Baby

My Mom just sold her friend's mother's house. The friend's mother kept a box of baby clothes that I guess were worn back in the 50's by her daughter. She gave the box to Mom and Rose had a little fashion show the other day. How adorable is this sun suit??

I adore the big bow in the back!
