Random thoughts for my 100th post!

Things sure have changed alot at the Lyon household since little miss was born in January. Clark and I can't remember what life was like without Rose and we love our new role as parents. The biggest change for me has been the busy busy schedule. I wouldn't consider myself lazy, but I really do love "lounging" around the house. Or should I say, I loved lounging. Those days are looooong gone! Just today, I have fed the baby, fed myself, made coffee, unloaded the dishwasher, washed, folded, and put away 2 loads of laundry, washed and changed our sheets, vacuumed the floors, cleaned the bathroom, paid bills, and caught up with a friend on the phone...all by 11 AM!!! Motherhood has helped me prioritize and become much more efficient than I used to be. When you have an hour or two of quiet time (baby sleeping) its like a mad dash to get as many chores accomplished as possible.

Am I weird that my new idea of relaxing = folding laundry???

Sips and Suds

Note to new parents: Babies outgrow bathtubs almost as fast as they outgrow onesies.

We started out with this variety and it lasted about 4 months.
Then we graduated to this style. Rose loved it but it seemed that she was about to jump right out of it. Too much freedom of movement for a child who has mastered sitting up. I had to keep one hand on her to keep her reclined.
Alas, I found the perfect bathtub for a 6 month old. The rubber duckie. Its more like a real bathtub and Rose seems to love it! She's gotten really good at kicking her feet and creates quite a wave pool in there. Some days after bathtime, I look like I just escaped a sunami.

Did I mention Rose is O-B-S-E-S-S-E-D- with her fingers?
And a wet washcloth? That's quite a mouthful, Rosebud! We've also been experimenting with a sippy cup. I think we'll take it!

Rose's Great-Grandparents

Rose is so blessed to have 2 sets of GREAT-GRANDPARENTS! Here is Rose with her Alice the day after she was born. Alice is in North Carolina for the summer and we can't wait to see her when she comes home! I am sure she is going to be amazed at how much Rose has changed since May. Here is Clark with his grandfather, Dede. Dede has such a huge heart and we love him very much! Dede and Clark are very similar in that they both have a great sense of humor and they never meet a stranger.

This is Clark's grandmother, Betty Gray. We call her BG. She loves Rose so much and she just can't get over how cute little Rose is! Rose and I love going to visit BG and Dede. BG and Dede have a standing dinner date every friday night at the Club. Clark and I are lucky enough to join them on occasion and even Rose has joined us once or twice!

All of my grandparents have passed away and I feel very lucky to have 4 new grandparents-in-law! I love each of them and look forward to seeing Rose get to know them through the years.

Ladies (and Gentlemen) That Lunch

Last week Rose and I met Grammy and Jay for lunch at the Club. These two cousins had so much fun on their lunch date.

Rose was a bit jealous of Jay's cheerios.

So Grammy let her try one.She wasn't wild about it.Rose and Jay talked about the latest toys.
Then Jay showed us his new walking skills!
Go Jay!
Thanks for a fun lunch date, Grammy! Same place and time next week?

Sitting Up!

Rose sat up for the first time on July 4! Rose loves her new view of the world from this new position. Such a fun milestone!

Half a Year

Yep, that's right...Rose is 6 months old! What a fabulous 6 months it has been! Rose continues to amaze us with every little move she makes...Clark and I are certainly smitten with our little girl. She has started doing so many tricks this month and its been lots of fun watching Rose learn about the world around her. Here are some things Rose is doing at 6 months:

-sit up unassisted
-eats in her big girl highchair
-drinks 2-3 formula bottles a day, nursing 2-3 times a day
-can hold the bottle on her own
-reaches for EVERYTHING and pulling it towards her
-passes objects from one hand to the other
-tries to puts her paci in by herself and is successful most of the time
-responds to voices across the room
-takes 2 naps a day (2-3 hours each)
-blows bubbles with her mouth
-sucks on her fingers constantly
-loves sucking on her fingers while eating...makes for a very messy (but cute) dinner

HAPPY 6 MONTHS, ROSE! WE LOVE YOU MORE THAN ANYTHING IN THE WORLD!
