A New Addition

Yep, you guessed right. We are having a baby! I still can't believe that I am pregnant again! I found out about 2 weeks ago and we all couldn't be more excited! It was fun telling our friends and family because nobody was expecting it and their reactions were priceless! I think my parents feel like the luckiest grandparents in the world. My Mom and Dad were sooo excited and surprised when we told them! Little baby Lyon is due May 26, 2010.
Rose will be about 17 months and I'm hoping she will love being a big sister! I've been talking to her alot and she is getting used the idea of sharing me with another child. I've been telling her it will be great! She's going to have a best friend who gets to spend the night every night! What could be better??
I have to be honest, I'm scared to death about how I will handle a 17 month old and a newborn. I've been reading forums online and that just made me even more scared! Everyone said the first year is chaotic and exhausting but it gets better after that. They say to prepare to live in your pj's, accept a messy house, get no sleep, etc... Sounds like a nightmare if you ask me! I am determined to be super organized and I refuse to accept chaos and a messy house! Yikes! If you have any helpful (aka POSITIVE) advice, please feel free to share with me!!!

I'm so excited for you and as I said in my email, everyone I know that has them this close loves it in the long run.
From a more theoretical perspective they taught us in grad school that it is best developmentally to have your children less than two years apart or more than three (clearly i listened in class really well since the boys will be 2.5 years apart). The reason being that children feel so much tension during their 2nd year as they work on differentiating from their parents and forming their own identities. Lots of child psychologists believe that a new baby coming in the midst of differentiation adds additional stress for the toddler that is unhealthy. So you are being much sweeter to Rose than I am to Jack :-)
At 17 months she will adjust really quickly to having another baby in the house and she won't have the capacity to remember the good ole days when it was just her at home with her big people all to herself. :-) You'll do GREAT!

I am SO happy for you guys! You will be just fine. I have two friends who have kids very close in age too. One has two 13 months apart and another 16 months. They are great. You will be too! Congrats!

Jill!!! Congratulations!!! I'm so excited for y'all!!!

My younger sister and I are 18 months apart. WE LOVE IT!!!! We have experienced so much at similar times, it's been great. Seriously, whenever friends talk about having children close together, I'm a huge advocate! My sister is such a close sister-friend and I think a lot of it is that we're so close in age. HOORAY FOR ROSE!
