A Baby Story: Our Version
It all began at 4:45 AM on Monday, January 12, 2009. Clark and I woke up (I watched the clock all night waiting for the alarm to go off) and got ready to go to the hospital. It was an exciting feeling knowing that the next time we returned home, we would be bringing home the newest member of our family. I was feeling a mixture of excitement and fear of the unknown.
After checking into the hospital at 5:30, we were sent to Labor and Delivery Room #4. That is where I met Cricket, my awesome nurse! She was by my side the entire day and I feel like I owe her a million dollars for the care she gave me and Rose. I was 4 cm when they started the pitocin. At 9:30, Dr. Shields checked in and decided to break my water. I think I was about 6 cm at that point and just beginning to feel painful contractions so she ordered an epidural. 5 minutes later, Dr. Browning arrived. I was pleasantly surprised that the epidural didn't hurt at all! It just felt a little strange. We continued to wait and by 12:00, I was 10 cm. We started pushing around 1:00, and at 1:19, Rose entered the world. I was in absolute shock when Dr. Shields placed my precious angel on my tummy. I had tears streaming down my face and was speechless. I just couldn't get over her tiny little hands, perfect little fingers, sweet little cry, and plump pink lips. Clark captured the last 5 minutes of the delivery on camera and I am so glad he did! It is priceless.
Rose weighed 7 pounds 3 ounces and was 20 inches long. She was perfect! Overall, our birth experience was way more than we ever imagined. I tried to prepare myself for that day, but I didn't realize what a life changing experience it would be. The miracle of birth is truly amazing and I can't wait to experience it again in a few years :)

INTRODUCING REBECCA ROSE LYON
This is from Melanie, Jill's Mom
Rebecca Rose Lyon was born around 1:20 this afternoon. She is 7 lbs. 3 oz and 20" long.
She has a head full of dark brown hair and is so beautiful. Jill had an easy delivery, and her exact words were, "It was a piece of cake!" She and Clark are so totally thrilled with their precious bundle of joy.

Waiting......but not for very long.

Last Day as a Family of 2
I can't begin to describe what a strange feeling it is to know that today is our last day of it "just being us." Clark and I slept in this morning and really took advantage of what will be the last day we can lay in bed until 10:30 without any interruptions. Then we went to Waffle House for a late breakfast, ran some last minute errands, went to the grocery store, did laundry, and installed car seat bases into both of our cars. Now we are waiting for my Mom and Dad to come over to help us hang some pictures and a mirror in Rose's nursery so we can finally feel like it is ready for Rose. Those of you who know my Dad know that he loves to cook one pot wonders. Tonight he is bringing over his famous Tuscan Chicken. So yummy! It is chicken with all kinds of veggies...green beans, potatoes, and rutabagas to name a few. Clark is working on a great salad and french bread, and I picked up Baskin Robbins ice cream for dessert.
Anyway, back to today. I must have cried at least 8 times today. It started this morning while we were getting dressed for breakfast and continued on from there! At Waffle House, I asked Clark what he thought Rose was going to look like (although we have talked about it 100 times before) and the waterworks started again. I felt kinda silly crying in the Waffle House but I sure I am not the first pregnant lady to do that. Tears were shed during a conversation with Dana, then while driving by the hospital where I will give birth tomorrow, on the phone with a few friends, and again in the kitchen tonight. Don't get me wrong...I am NOT sad at all. Just very emotional! I've been waiting all of my life to have a baby of my own, and its hard to fathom that at 4:45 tomorrow morning, Clark and I will wake up to begin the day where we meet our daughter. I don't think we will sleep a wink tonight. If you are reading this tonight, please pray for a quick and easy delivery but more importantly, please pray for a healthy baby. We will post pictures of little Miss Rebecca Rose as soon as possible!

Its Almost Baby Time!
Here's the good news from my 38 week appointment... I am 3 cm dilated and 75% effaced...meaning that Rose could come at any minute! However, Dr. Shields was concerned about one thing. I generally have really low blood pressure, but today it was higher than it has ever been, I had protein in my TT (sorry...that sounds gross), and I have been having headaches and swelling during the past week. So, she sent me to the hospital to have some labwork done and if everything checks out OK, we are going to be induced MONDAY MORNING! I'll find out this afternoon if my bloodwork came back OK, and if not, we might have a baby as early as tomorrow. Clark and I are soooo excited. I am pumped, but at the same time I am freaking out just a little. Am I really going to have a baby in the next 5 days??!!! Oh my goodness!
